Manna's story (short)

I have been living out of a vehicle off and on since I was 19 years of age. I have CPTSD, ADHD, and a bunch of other diagnosis from childhood traumas.
My first car was a Ford Galaxy. I LOVED it. It was dented. The speedometer didn't work. I had to climb in and out of the driver window to get in it. But it was extremely roomy. I could sleep in the back seat with out having to curl up. I was living with two kittens and they had lots of room to chase each other around in the car. The trunk space was generous. It was a great summer. Then I got an apartment. Typically I wasn't living out of a vehicle for long.
My last residence was a room in a home that I paid rent for. They suddenly needed the room for family members who were about to be homeless and they had children. So we amicably agreed that the room had best go to them. We are still friends.
These last five years I have had the hardest times ever getting back out of a vehicle. I have health concerns that prevent me from working. I am living on SSA and SSI. This last stint has been going on three years now. I just turned 65 and would rather be in a sticks and bricks dwelling. I am on waiting lists. And still waiting.
